COURTESY (Yae Yie): Be polite to others. Examples: opening the door for your parents & grandparents; helping a friend do work without being asked; responding “Yes Sir” or “No Sir” when Grand Master Rho asks a question.

INTEGRITY (Yum Chee): Be honest, never tell a lie. Examples: if you find a wallet full of money, return the wallet to its owner without taking any of that money; not being a bully at school; not being bossy at the Do Jang if you are a higher rank than another student.

PERSEVERANCE (In Nae): Never giving up. Achieving your goals. Examples: if an opponent scores a point during sparring, you keep trying and do not become discouraged; when trying to break a board during a belt test, you keep trying until you break the board, no matter how long it takes; when playing a sport and you miss a shot, you keep trying until you make that shot.

SELF – CONTROL (Gook Kee): Control your emotions at all times. Examples: when someone hits you in an illegal area when sparring, instead of getting angry, you stay calm and keep smiling; if someone makes fun of you, instead of fighting, you smile and walk away.

INDOMITABLE SPIRIT (Bak Jun Bool Gool): Unconquerable spirit. Examples: if you make a mistake when doing forms, do not give up, instead you start over until you get it right; when you have trouble doing homework or working on a project, and you can not figure out a problem, keep trying until you solve that problem.
